Why I disagree when people say 75 gallons is suitable for jags.

I don't blame anybody who buys 75 gallon tanks for their jags because most people get their info from pet stores and other fish vendors who aren't going to move their product if they tell people they're going to need to buy a large expensive tank with tons of filtration.

Although I also believe they're too intelligent a fish to be kept in bare tanks by themselves. But that's an argument for a different thread:).
I'm not a fan of bare tanks for any species of fish. But that tank is 180 gallons and that jag obviously fills it out. Just trying to back your point.

I would keep anything up to JD size in a 75. A 75 is waaaaay to small for jags, this is bookmarked now

Are any of the parachromis specie like the mota or freddi suitable for a 75 with good maintenance

Have you kept a Jag in a community with Vieja? I'd like to know what you think about Jags in a large tank (300G +) with Vieja. I tried it with no luck, but the Jag I had was just all aggression all the time, flaring constantly, and thinking half the tank was his area.

I'd like to get another one, but not if it's gonna be like that.

I have done this and it worked ok.The jag was around 9inch and didn't bother anything. The jag suddenly died though,no symptoms no wounds nothing.
I think success depends on the temperament of the individual fish.I am also guessing in most cases successful would be short lived.
