Finally got the first guy in my tank and I think he's either bored or confused, cause he is building a bubble nest underneath the giant hornwort I threw in the tank.

Now, there's no female with him (and the guy at the LFS said they never get females and I won't be able to find one anywhere either -- is that true??)... All the conditions that are needed to breed Gouramis are not there (and I know, I've bred them in the past)... The light is bright, water pH higher than needed, water level not low... and NO female!!... the only thing that is right is the floating plant.

Heh... just sharing...

They build bubble nests even whan there is no female mine used to do it, i think its just instinctive. Im sure you can find a female somewhere i know my lfs which is only small stocks them. They spawn fairly easily and the male looks after the eggs (take out the female after spawning) and whan the eggs hatch feed infusoria. I wish you the best of luck.

my betta does it just for kicks lol
its nothing unusual... or usual for that matter haha

Happened with my previous male dwarf gouramis. Instinctive to me.

walmart ALWAYS has female dwarfs believe it or not..they dont sell well because they are just silver colored with blue or red fins.
