why is my gold Sev not as pretty as yours

I cant fid the pic, but yea dif body shape, and well he was bright golden, I do 50-75% wc each week, I feed ole lord, omega 1, hikari, cichlid, excel, gold, NLS a few treats every now and then, plus some high protein beef heart flakes that a local breeder makes, he also stalks the shrimp pellets and alge discs. Is there a certain type of food or kind that has the carotenoids stuff.
I'm not saying you can't look after your fish properly I was just saying make sure you have everything in the right place and if all is ok just give it some time.
I think you have a pretty good diet for the sev. Read the labels on the foods to see if there are carotenoids/beta-carotene, etc., to be sure. Other than that time will only tell. My last gold sev is a little on the pale side.

Ok sorry to sound hostile, may not be good at to many things in this world but my fish are my #1. anyway yes I know what beta-carotene is, just didnt know the other. I did my research on severums cause I have been wanting some, beside my Jag, they are my fav cichlid. I researched more about there care than there breed. In hindsite, Id love to set up a big tank for all the dif Sevs. I am interest in all of them now, at time I was at an expo and the breeder had the above gold and a red Severum, was smaller, it is bright red with lines through its body, I can post a pic tomrrow if you would like to see it.

The super reds are definitely gorgeous. I'd have one if I could find one at my LFS. Other than that.. if you don't mind, I'll post a pic of my two sevs.
Fyi: Yep.. saw and commented on the new female jag. She's very nice!
The gold sev in the bottom pic is very washed out because I had a bad angle and she was directly under the light. I was only trying to get a pic of the Rotkeil at the time.

You know what I just noticed on your sev? There is some vertical striping on it, which to me would mean that it is a hybrid between a rotkeil and a gold sev. If that's the case, the ones I've seen before tend to be a little more dull in coloration.
