Good way to add parasites to your tank if you don't already have them if you don't quarantine first, though.

Thanks. I always quarantine.

Try a Jack Dempsey then, the more it looks like the GT, the better... and make sure it's big enough to be seen as competition.

that female jd is soooo pissed lol look at her color

:headbang2

Probably genetics like the others said. Theres nothing wrong with $3 GTs from Petsmart, my female is on hell of a beast! lOl

Some more pics with FTS then we can close this thread. The scat isn't mine but I think he is now coz my friend doesn't want to do brackish/salt anymore. I'll try to find him a good home but if nobody wants him I have no choice but to keep him in full fresh for life. Thanks everyone.

Why are his fins shredded?

Very nice tank btw

He was like that when I got him. It doesn't appear shredded at closer look, more like frayed edges.

if its growing healthy and everything then its probably not the veggie thing, though i know mine always did better with them i just havent had that great of luck with the GTs from the stores here. but yeah i think that may be a female from seeing more pics of it, with it being the only cichlid of any size in that tank i doubt its a submissive thing, there is nothing in there that would care about its dominance and even a male with bad genes should show a little more color than that, so im going with it being a female (is the blue on the cheek smudgey at all? its kind of hard to see in the pic...)
