hey people,
so i got her (i think its a her) about 6months ago with her mate. the mate died a month after, and since then she has been really aggresive.
when i say aggresive i mean she attacks my frontosas, my clown knife and even me!:irked:
i dont want to get rid of her coz shes so beautiful but if she doesnt sort her act out i am going to have to :(

does anyone know why and if so what should i do, coz iv got no idea

thanks

chloe

i actually find bloodparrots to act more like cichlids (read nasty) if kept in small numbers. kept in groups they are much more enjoyable.

It is mad at the world for making it such an abomination. Hah.

Also, you shouldn't keep them with Frontosa Generally. Their personalities clash and can create a lot of stress.

leave her alone! lol! everyone has said that they would b fine together, the fonts dont care about her, she just obviously does have that chip on her shoulder.

but anyway, does anyone know what the best thing i can do for her? do i get her a mate or chuck a more aggresive fish in ther (which i dont want to do)

cheers

Are you sure she's a female? If so, she's probably routinely laying eggs or at least preparing to, and she feels a need to defend herself. She'll continue to lay eggs every 2-3 weeks or so and will be more aggressive during this period.

Getting her a mate will make things worse, as they will pack twice the punch to the other fish when they're breeding. I've had several blood parrots and individual personalities range, but several of mine have been downright mean in nature. My best suggestion is to provide plenty of hiding spots for the bullied fish and maybe some schooling fish to disperse your female's aggression.

Oh, and what size is your tank?

tanks is 4x2x2x but will be getting a 8x3x3 by xmas, as i no i need a bigger tank for them.

they have places to hide, and they did have schooling fish....they got eaten lol.

to be honest i could be wrong about it being a she, i just assume she is because shes so pretty and feminine and the mate was butch and manly haha.
how do you tell? everywhere i have read says you cant.

thanks for the advice, might try some more schooling fish.

OK, so shes eaten all the schooling fish iv put with her  not unexpected but it was worth a try.
any more ideas anyone???
open to any offers :D
