Why is my water green??

I had the same problem so I went to walmart and got this stuff for 5 bucks..........problem solved. It cleared my tank in two hours.

This will clear the water, but I would still check your water parameters and find the cause of your algae bloom.

That stuff is known to kill fish as it turns the algae in to a large bio load. Id say be careful with algae potions OP

just be cautious using that chemical stuff. its not my first choice as it contains copper which can have negative effects on plants fish and inverts. do not use if you have inverts. also, follow the label carefully....... overdosing can harm or even kill your plants and fish

And your bio filter too... not a great product

You are right, but some tap water can be high on phosphates.

Sorry i forgot but yes my tank is by a window..

You might wanna put a curtain or something to prevent sunlight from coming in to the tank.

Post your water parameters (nitrates, phosphates), change water, block the sunlight. In that order

I would'nt rely on chemicals to provide the solution to your green water. It's just a band-aid solution. You need to cut back on your feeding,increase water changes,and most importantly block your tank from direct sunlight.

I think the sunlight may have been a big culprit because i do have the tank directly in front of a window.. i will block it from sunlight thanks for all the help
