I love seeing all the tanks on here with their crystal clear water but it seems I have a problem on my own. I own a 75 gallon that has been running now for around 5 weeks. I currently changed the gravel on it o black and the water isn't as clear as I want it to be. The tank is 4 feet across and you can barely see to the other side! The filtering I believe is fine as there are barely any particles in the water and I'm running an xp3, a mangnum 250, and a powerhead. I have heard that it might be the driftwood. Any thoughts?

is it brand new driftwood? and how long ago did you replace the substrate? is it murky and yellow tinged?

it's possible that your driftwood is releasing tannin. your water would be tea color if that were the case

I replaced the substrate almost 2 weeks ago.. The water is just kinda murky not too bad but yea, not yellow tinged though since I'm running carbon

i would try doing a water change and see if that helps. i know when i first put driftwood in my tank my water became yellow and murky water changes and time soled my problem

since you're over filtered, it has to be the driftwood. is it new driftwood? i usually buy mine straight out of display tanks if i can

yeah same thing with me about the driftwood it made the water murkey for months in my 90 gal. Eventually i dropped a bag of carbon in front the pump intake in my sump and its super clear ever since... as long as i do w/c's ;)

When I bought the tank 5 weeks ago thebownerbhad the driftwood in there, I don't know how much longer before that though... I have 1 filter running carbon with other media anthe other filter just running mechanical. I might put the carbon block on the 250 and see if that helps
