Why is my water murky....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well as far as water parameters the ph is around a 7.2 and the temperature around 78-80. We feed the fish twice a day with flakes, and maybe 2 times a week bloodworms. The tank stock is 2 jewels,2 blue johanni, geophagus, firemouth, jack Dempsey, green terror, 3 tiger barbs, pleco, dragon goby, small koi and silver dollar. All the cichlids are only around 1.5 inches

I'm surprised no one has asked for water parameters, tank stock, feeding schedule/amount, etc.

too lazy, when i hear hoofbeats, i try to think horse, not zebras. you may be on the right track though

As above about the driftwood. I wouldnt bother with carbon though, just a few water changes should do it.

When I added new substrate it was several weeks before the fine dust/sand where filtered out, even after intense rinsing. the gravel was collected from a river though i i doubt the black gravel you bought would have half as much dust in.

I would just be patient, do 2 water changes in a week instead of one and it will sort itself out after a week or 2

ive had this problem in a tank once.. i changed my neon color gravel to black gravel from a pet store.. later did i find out it was the gravel.. when i took it out it didnt get murkey again.. thanks just me

The yellowish tint is the wood bro.. I'm about to do a water change tomorrow on my tank but the water seems to be clearing up. I think it might have been the gravel
