Why is my ZZ Flowerhorn peeling?

Why is my zz flowerhorn peeling its skin? It is starting to reveal a pink midas colour underneath.

Sorry, here you go.....Its the best photo I could get, he won't stay still.
 
Because there is Midas or Red Devil in the lineage. Selective breeding has taken place to get your flowerhorn to carry the peeling trait. Soon your fish will be half red and half white and look mich nicer.
 
Yep, looks like its fading.

Yours is fading also, but to be honest. You can cross fader with a fader and non of the produced frys fade. It all depends how strong of a gene is that fader actually showing out.

Thats good because I don't particularly care for the fader gene.
