thanks in advance!

Or maybe it rested on your heater for a while?

Has the spot always been this size and shape or is it growing?

If the leaf is arched above the water surface, air will get trapped underneath and cause a air pocket and the leave will dry out on that area unless you have enough water movement to keep motion on the surface to prevent this.
Or maybe you have to much dry air movement and it cause the leave to get dry faster that it can keep its moisture, fan, air conditioning or dry air.

Does this sound like a possibility?

hmmm....no bubbles....i have an eheim 2232 canister filter...and i have very little surface agitation.....there is also another leaf that has surfaced which is the one by the affected one..that one has fully broken the surface and fully exposed and is dried...but it remains shiny like the anubias leaves emersed...the little leaf is perfectly fine....hmm...i hope this makes sense...

Anubias are much hardier than the lilies, and can grow emersed. Lilies can hit the surface, but they don't do well with being completely surrounded by air.
