Captive bred fish tends to lose color through out there generations. In most cases, some tend to keep there color due to selective breeding to produce intents color, but some "farms" breed them to get quantity not quality. In OP's case, it might me for quantity not quality.

so in your opinion is it an orino? is there a way to distinguish an orino from others by body features, instead of just markings and colors? im just wondering cause i always just use colors/markings as a guide, which is why i can only distinguish ocells, monos, zullies.:screwy: and not the others

has he shown those markings and colors in the other tank? might be the water chemistry or background/substrate?

Sometimes...but not bold enough like others orino that i have ever seen here...I think if u put your fishes with black or dark background or substrate they color shoul be more contrast, but it doesnt work with my orino huhu...:(

Yes it's a orino. I asked for a better picture with out the question mark. Wasn't quick to say it wasn't. You still can see faint marks regardless if it's stressed. There are key markings/body features you can tell the difference

How long has it been since you moved the orino? Might still be settling in. The mono behind it seems a little stressed too. If you just moved the orino, give it some time to settle in. If its been awhile, something might be stressing it out.

It's been there for 1 week, it showed the same pattern color in the old tank, It was younger @ the second pic, as he grows the pattern seem more dull and fade out haha...weird lol...

so what marks/features are on this fish that make it orinocensis? im just wondering for information on these guys. i got some rio metas and just curious as to other O's that look different.

that is definitely an orino. but a very low quality one at that. some orinos show the banging color, some simply do not. im pretty sure that fish will never show any good color. ive had plenty of those and i always got rid of them. by 5-6" its easy to tell if you have a stunner on your hands.

take a look at these guys, at about 6". my old rio negros. these were wild caught. :)

the p bass right above my post are beautiful!!
