Why make a sad situation worse?

The only person responsible IMO is the father, no one else. As a father, I can imagine the pain he must be going through and I bet that the punishment he is giving himself would be worse then any criminal punishment he would be given...

Everyone thought letting a 66 pound kid fire a micro-uzi was okay???????? Under the supervision of a 15 yr old?????

This wasn't an accident. It was criminal negligence.

The father was not charged because he was a layman and based his decision on information from others who should have known it was too dangerous, Bennett said.

I'd indict the father.......if he's going to let his 8 year old son handle a sub machine gun he should be held responsible.

It's unfortunate but people need to go to jail to prevent stupid things like this from occurring in the future.

I blame the father most of all for his ill judgment.

Agree. Any handgun much less an uzi has no business being fired by "just anyone" in a public situation like this even with people of age. It was a bad decision on everyone's part. IMO everyone indicted is responsible and should have thought twice about having such an event, esp with a 15 y/o supervising.

These are the people believe it or not that screw it up for everyone even those who excercise common sense with guns and wouldn't let a child fire a uzi.

My deepest feelings to the father. But as a fellow firearm enthusiast I can't blame anybody for this tragedy, accidents do happen, even at gun ranges. Example, about a month ago my father(also a firearm ehthusiast) and I were at the range, as we usually are about once a month, and the guy in the next booth is haveing problems with his SKS jamming. My father and I both new what the problem was nearly immediently(both having owned SKS's), he had bought laqured 7.62x39 shells for the rifle. Now those shells may have worked for a AK, but not a SKS. The reason is after a few rounds go through the chamber, of the SKS, the laqure will come off and stick on the insides of the loading chamber, making the spent shells not want to eject easily(thereby jamming the rifle). So I came over first and asked the guy if he wanted advice. He said "Sure this is my first SKS, and the shells kept jamming on him". Then my father came over poped the remaining bullets out then proped the rifle up, Not Pointed At Anyone, and proceeded to pull the bolt back to try to eject the shell(At the time we both thought it was a spent shell). The bolt was fairly hard to pull, then pop! My father had the bolt pulled halfway back when the bolt slipped out of his hand, slide forword and fired off the live shell that was in the barrel. Thankfully the bullet went forword at a 45 degree angle away from the firing line, and nobody was injured, we were a bit startled though.

Anyway that long story just goes to show that accidents do happen. You could have all the licensed instructors and take all the correct safety measures, but accidents do happen.

P.S. My father started to show me how to use firearms when I was 6, I started out with a Red Ryder pellet rifle and by age 8 I was useing a 10-22 Ruger. I would however on occasion get to shoot my fathers larger firearms like the S&W 9mm and Remington 12gu. Shooting guns at paper targets is a childrens sport, just like soccor, baseball, boyscouting(not really a sport i know). I know because I was there at that age, as I was with soccor, baseball, and boyscouting. You see my father tried to get me involved in many sports to see what I liked doing, and thats what I bet Charles Bizilj was trying to do with his son.

Oh by the way, new to the site(great site). I don't believe iv'e got my profile set up yet, so this may look alittle bare.

theres been a lot of kids accidently or purposely shooting them selves lately

all the more reason for obama to ban guns.

Sarcasm?

Gun control is not using both hands, WTF was a child doing anywhere near a weapon of any kind much less an Israeli made Murder Machine :banhim::banher:
