I had two pike cichlid and I got lucky and they mated but I came home to find her dead with her stomach burst open so I got rid of the male too and bought a Gar... Very happy with my decision

all my pikes are more interested in eating everyone elses fry instead of making there own.

Interesting - what about using the divider method ?

Most common method employed. The problem is even though it keeps them from killing each other if the female does become receptive it's a very small window of opportunity.

New thinking of extra space so the fish can display and have the room to escape deadly fights may need to new success soon

I have bred reganis in a 30 gallon. They were a wild caught pair, and gave me lots of fry.
