I got the fish at about 2 inches gave it to him at about 7 inches. it is over a foot in length now. He feeds it a diet of nightcrawlers, white grubs and helgemites. I do not advocate keeping a fish of this size in a 29 gallon tank but with a good routine of daily water changes and a regulated diet it can be done.

so it was time to get more tanks like i was already planning and saving for.i got 2 75 gals i put the devils in 1 and the jags in the other and how they stayed for 1 year making lots of fry .at the end of that year the male was 9" and the female was 7" with a weakly water changes of 50% somtimes more water change is everything large cichlids.then i had to get another 125 gal and move the jags and devils up to there final home 125
i was planning ahead for taking care of big cichlids
