Why overflows?

I have a 48x20x20 75gal. fresh water tank. As with everyone, I think I need a bigger tank. At least a 150gal. setup. What is the advantage of overflows?

Keeps all the oils n junk off the top of the water + more oxygens.

Overflows wether HOB style or integrated give you the ability to run a sump. Many advantages to a sump on a larger tank.
