Why should I get a python water changer?

I’m an idiot!
I have one low tank like this that I can never get the suction momentum going on and always have to drain outside but with winter coming I don’t want to have a bunch of ice build up outside.

duh, use the faucet to get it going like it was intended for.

I never use the faucet to get my tanks to drain, I’ve always used gravity or my “whale mouth” to suck the other end haha
Having a python to start siphon certainly would work better than sucking with a whale mouth specially in challenging condition of a low elevation tank or long hose. But siphoning can also be started simplify by turning on the faucet to fill the hose as you normally would do to fill the tank. A quick disconnect at the faucet end and a wide mouth suction tube at the tank end of the hose will make thing even easier. The narrow male quick disconnector allows your thumb to shut off the flow without spill while you are relocating the discharge to a low point.

One thing you may want to consider.
If you only have a few tiny tanks... say...totaling @ 50 gallons or so... and you don't have intentions to add lots more larger ones in the near future, there may be no need for a Python. But...
If you plan on adding a couple hundred more gallons soon, then a Python might be a good investment.
For about 20 years straight, I kept at least 20 tanks running of over 1500 -2000 gallons, and changed a couple hundred gallons every other day, in that case, a Python or an automated water change routine was essential.
