Yeah right!

We have more than enough oil in Alaska to sustain our country.
Why are we not tapping into it?

Because the corrupt bankers control our whole economy. They get rich along with the Saudis from stealing our money and controlling us.
They want to keep our gas prices high, because they know we need it and will buy it even if $5-6/gallon.
and spearo is a dam genius.....

like i said just because u heard on the news that iraq wouldnt give us any of there oil fields.....
dosent mean their tellin the truth......
like i said uncle sam is missin the letter c.......dummies

We are drilling in alaska just not the Artic national wildlife Refuge, which is the controversy I believe.

the states has enough oil to last us 10 years with no help and no extra drilling,
thats are huge fat stockpile that we cant tap into but we can pay $5 a gal of gas cuz bp is a

I am not reading all this but BP made an announcment a week or so ago that they were already going to pay for the cost of the oil clean up, etc. I honestly havent seen a change in my gas price yet...it's been the same from the beg. of the year... I ve seen maybe 5 cents at most in fluctuation in my area.

As for dirilling..... this is why I dont agree with it. I care much more about the ecosystem that supports me.... if they were to drill in FL and something like this happened it would be absolutely devastating. I wish people would wake up and realize how important a lot of the ecosystems are to your survival. If you don't agree that's fine, this is IMO.... please keep that in mind. Of course we are dirilling so it is what it is. With what we are dirlling now, I think much more regulations need to be put in place and they need to have a better way to be able to stop these types of things if they happen. It causes way to much damage. I also agree with what we drill, it would be better that we keep it. Although I do think it would be good to go alternative energy but I doubt that will happen soon, its something I think could have been done a while ago.... but you know... oil companys....they has the money... to bad they wont invest it in something cleaner. Thats my .02.

Unfortunately, even if BP and all companies involved in this accident are fined Billions of dollars, we will all still end up paying for this spill. Businesses for profit has a way of passing the cost of doing business to their customers, us. It's called the profit motive.

There's no escaping higher gas prices until we wean ourselves of oil products through the use of alternative sources of energy.:( As the amount of oil available for consumption goes down, while the demand for it remains high, the only way for price to go is higher.

Production of oil in Mexico has peaked and rapidly dwindling down. Next will be Venezuela, Nigeria, and eventually the Middle East. Mother nature is not producing any more oil. It will eventually run dry.

Accidents like this has a way of becoming a blessing in disguise or a silver lining in the clouds if you will. Some good can come out of this. However be prepared to pay more to gas up you tanks. Summer driving season is upon us and past years have proven that during the hot months, gas prices go up regardless of what's happening with oil prices. $ 4 gas could be as some say, De Ja Vus all over again:(

Alternative energy is abundant, its just expensive and very daunting to transfer these sources into the mainstream way of life. Not to mention tradition and customs of the ways of life this country is used to...freedom which is why this country is so great. Which is clearly coming at a high price, because we all share the earth and should have the freedom to not have someone else mess it up. But i agree with whats been said and there is an issue with huge corporations and banks or whatever standing in the way of progress. Something has to give....

DannyBoii, you sure like starting controversial issues....
(BTW, a tanker didn't sink. It was an oil-rig! There's actually a pipe sticking out of the ocean floor that's spewing oil into the sea; it's like an underwater oil volcano).

MANY other industrialized countries require the use of a sonar-enabled shutoff switch. The sonar technology is OPTIONAL in the US, and would have most likely prevented the oil leakage (as someone could remotely trigger the shutoff). CALL your congressperson and tell them your for impossing the remote sonar-switch as a requirement!

Support Senator Menendez (New Jersey) bill that will raise the liability for Oil Companies from 75 million to 10 Billion with a B (I think it should be 100 billion). Again, CALL your Senator and tell them you want them to support it. The bill will be retro-active (meaning BP will have to pay for cleanup and FUTURE liability suits).

BP PROFITS (NET, not gross) 5 billion in 3 months, they can afford to pay for this....
If BP doesn't pay for it, US taxpayers will. You choose!

Support GREEN ENERGY! End our dependence on Oil, and stop giving Iran and Saudi Arabia our money!!!

Also, for you "Drill Baby Drill" ppl. I'm fine with US drilling, BUT that oil needs to stay in the US. Currently, any US oil drilling is sold on the world market (BP, Exxon, Shell etc.. are all international companies). CALL your congress person and say you want US oil to stay in the US market!

Just my few cents... This is an important topic for us fellow fish keepers....
dude, shut up. green energy is expensive and ineffective for the cost atm and will continue that way for a long time. there already is a emergency shut off switch but i heard that this one did not work properly.

we need to drill and drill now.

^Um, woah? Green Energy is hugely efficient, considering it's unlimited. We'll stop using oil when it gets around 20$/gallon. We will run out soon, don't worry :D

Haha, ours is 1.00/gal :D
