Why wont he eat?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh ok. so hes just moving around his furniture?
And thanks for all the help everyone.

try blood worms or beefheart, thats what mine eats

Yup...just give it some more time. Frozen bloodworms always do the trick for me. An ABK doesn't normally move things around too much. What's the decor like? Do you have any hiding spots for it?

Dont worry, they tend not to eat the first days/weeks. Try leaving some bloodworms in his tank overnight, usually works. Some fish also dont like being watched when eating.
I have an Astatheros Alfari that i have had for more than 6 months and i have seen it eat twice. Always fat tho.

okay when ur fish doesnt eat than immediately take out the food because the food might cause severe bacteria toward ur fish.

I prefer u just leave that fish alone for maybe 2 or 3 days without feeding it or u can try every day at night feed it 2 or 3 pallets not too much. If they eat than just leave it dont over feed it. Than next day add a little more. Do this for at least a few week. Once they get used to your house and tank it would automatically be active and start eating.

well he finally eat. in front of me! Hes in a 55 galon tank with mollies and tetras and danos..... i feed a little bit of crab meat. he eat it!

ok thanks guys. any pics of your ABKs? when im able to get a pic of mine ill post it

well i have some fronze brine shrimp, he absoltly LOVES them!

Shy knifefish can easily get outcompeted for food and become thin. Congrats on getting him to eat, but make sure he keeps it up.
