Can you provide current water parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH levels?

Chompers, what is meant by the python comment? Is there something wrong with using a python to due water changes?

Yes, if you are adding untreated water containing chlorine or chloramine.

This is why I just spend the money and buy the Nutrafin Cycling solution which the process takes 3 days. I cycled my 225 in 3 days with brand new water and tested the waters paremeters on the 4th day and everything was fine. 5th day all my fish went in and all eating well and happy. Why wait 2 months? To save 30 bux? If u have money to buy fish and maintain them then I'm pretty sure u have the money to buy chemicals.
Wow I ve been in the hobby for 40 years and never heard of Nutrafin cycling solution. If it works in three days and is completely cycled-that is the only way to go. Anyone else ever use it?

Did you add any ammonia to the tank or just the Nutrafin Cycle?

Just the Nutrafin Cycle. Then when I xfered the fish from the 120g to the 225g I took maybe 3x 5 gallon buckets of it's water.

Well, my ammonia went from 8 ppm down to 1 ppm 2 days after I put in the gravel :nilly:(still high though) .My pH was actually very low at 6.0 and I am raising right now which is now currently 6.4 And I will soon leave the results of the nitrites.
Thanks everyone:)

If there was never any ammonia in the tank, then how did you know it was cycled before you put the fish in?

You tested the water on the 4th day, but what were you testing for?

I tested the water and checked the ammonia level and ph, the ammonia level was at 0.25. Then the next day I just put the fish in. If you don't believe then I don't really care but that's what I did. Just google Nutrafin Cycle and see for yourself what it does.

:chillpill:Why get so defensive? I just asked a few questions, personally I believe you were lucky and it worked for you. Myself I would have added ammonia and seen that the tank could process it, before adding any fish that I cared about.

Well Brian the way u ask me questions sounds like you don't believe it...and that's why I got defensive.

You said you started with brand new water...so Nutrafin Cycle adds ammonia?
