If you dont have plants, Id lose one of the bulbs. Vacuum thouroughly and watch your water parameters as it dies off. If its just a growout you dont really need that much light.
We get that kind of algae at work from time to time. Normally we get rid of it by vacuuming as much as possible out each week until it appears to be gone then adding plants to outcompete it for nutrients. Also, I tend to grow a lot more algae when I use 6-7k bulbs. I like to go higher up and use 10k and the algae doesn't seem to thrive as much. Also, try washing your decorations in hot water to remove the algae right before water changes.
18k isn't more light, it's just a different spectrum of light. K is the color temperature. The amount of light comes from number of bulbs and wattage in simple terms.
I use a 10k on another tank, but id say try the 18k by itself for awhile and see how it goes. really close spectrumwise but i find the lower the number the more algae i can grow
if you dont have plants you could try testing for phosphate. algae uses it as a food source as well as light. also nitrates. ive used phosphate remover in my cannisters and it keeps the nitrates down to 0 as well as removing the phosphate. ive also heard peat moss but ive never tried it. idk how long you run your lights for but i only use mine 4hrs a day. no algae.
