I just started the 125 and I came home to a almost dead synodontis cat that was fine when he was in the 55. I thought synodontis and cichlids lived harmoniously.

More info please. Types of cichlids and syno? Was there a lot of rockwork in the tank? Sizes of the fish involved. Any cichlids breeding?

Demasoni, yellow labs and mbamba yellow tails. 6 BN pleco babies and now 2 synodontis left. The one that was killed was approx an inch. I do not know about the breeding I personally have never witnessed breeding but have found fry in the 55 b4 converting it to the 125. I have a good amount of rockwork in my 125. Here is a pic of the tank

Are you sure it didn't die and then was eaten...

Yes when i pulled him out he was still breathing but half eaten and he definitly wasnt like that when I put him in the tank 2 days ago

what size are the demasoni? and how many are in there? if they are bigger than the syno theres a good chance they are the culprit

some of them are much bigger and there is 1 MONSTER in the tank that just came yesterday, hes huge but SEEMS extremely timid to be the size he compared to the toehrs. I have about 28 demasoni, 7 yellow labs,2 lab. mbamba yellow tails 2 syn cats and 5 BN plecos

I have 12 demasoni with 3 metriaclima msobo deep magunga a syno angel and 2 spiney eels (mastacembulus liberiensis) I would say the demasoni are the culprits very territorial and aggressive, what is your temp set at if its above 75 lower it to that to stem the aggression
