I'm not even going to talk about religion, but if you happen to pray please keep my friend in your prayers tonight; her name is Shannon Gilbert.
I have never been tolerant of drunk driving, but this really puts it over the edge for me. A friend that I have had for over 10 years was put into a Coma at about 2 am Jan 1st and isn't expected to survive, and if she does she is not expected to regain consciousness.
She was driving her boyfriend home from a party, both intoxicated, when they flipped their car on a farm road. Since neither were wearing seat belts, both were ejected from the car. Her boyfriend was killed on contact and Shannon's prognosis is grim.
This is important to me, as we actually dated for quite a while and had to separate due to school issues. She is a wonderful person who made a mistake that cost another their life and possibly hers.
I'm all about celebrating and partying, but think about to consequences first. It's easy to dismiss things like these until they hit too close to home.
