Why you should not use a net to move a piranha

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Holy ----! that's gotta hurt.

i used to move piranhas with nets, til they bit holes in every one i own :(

owning piranhas should be only by the experienced!

Some of you guys amaze me-Seriously.....

You jump to conclusion with ridiculous statement......You guys have no clue who this guy is and the experience level he brings to the Piranha hobby....He made a simple mistake and has paid the price for it....

Just learn from his mistake and enjoy the read....But please keep it civil

I agree, we all make mistakes, such as...

While working at my first LFS job, I tried moving a large piranha from a top tank with a net while standing on a ladder. It chewed through and fell, I stuck out my leg to block it's fall, and knee'd the P, which sailed across the room. Thank God no one was in the way, they would have been hit with a flying 6" piranha. Hey, and the piranha was ok too (landed on a stack of garbage...).

How should you catch them? I'm thinking about getting some and Im doing alot of reading. I want to know all that there is to know.

ps whats QFT?
carefully... ha, i usually use a net to catch them, but i fill up five gallon buckets with aquarium water and put them right next to the tank so that they can go right into buckets as soon as they leave the water. they really don't start freakin out until they leave the water, so i try to have a bucket lid on hand to cover the top of the net, that way they can't flop out of the net and onto the floor. nets will definitely get shredded up pretty good over time, so i like to keep extras on hand just in case.
