why is it ALL the fully crossed gold head aros we see for sale are in white tanks with white bottom is this some kind of trick to make the aro look better than it is

this is kind of dishonest don't you think as from what i have seen in the past that once a aro with very high shine level for a young fish is placed in normal tank conditions the shine level will drop

i know many people selling aros will say no if its real crossing then it wont fade well how can you tell real crossing from a aro that has been treated in a white tank

i know how you are meant to tell its if the aro looks washed out with no gold tones

i was thinking to buy a gold head cross back but I'm to scared of getting ripped off

its not like the price of this kind of fish is cheap you are talking us$3900-$10000 that sort of money in my eyes is good reason to put a average cross back in a white tank for a few months

for $10k you get no guarantee that the aro will stay as gold as you think or turn out the way you want

lets face it if you buy anything else for that kind of money you get a guarantee and if you are not happy you can return the item or car

if the aro doesn't live up to our expectation we are just told you need to give it more time

all thoughts welcome i know you cant get this kind of aro in the US but if you could would you be happy paying $10k only for the fish not to turn out what you expected

I think its perfectly fair. Putting them in a white tank just brings out the gold when you look at it, doesnt really do much to the actual fish, its all perception.

If the seller wants your money they should have no problem putting the fish in a blue background tank upon request.
I believe the white tanks do not alter the fishes colour and you'd see the true colour once it's in a blue tank.
I'm pretty sure the seller will work with you.

The fading of WTT will take nearly a month so I dun think so any seller would do that for you. For a HB its not exactly a gimmick but a feel good feeling for the buyer. But its not entirely call a cheat coz you can maintain that high shine if you keep the fish in an all white background tank.

For XB it is to help a faster 6lvl crossing.

Most important is you get educated, in a WTT, if you dun see frame forming then the shine will not hold in a normal tank.

Its true, environment does affect shine. But it doesnt happen overnight, or over a couple of hours, it takes atleast a month if not a couple months. Also, different lights will show more or less shine/colours, thats the difference between my regular shop light and the t5 they had hanging over at the LFS where i bought my aro. Its not a gimmick, over a LONG period of time in a pure white tank, shine levels may increase, but the only immediate affect is, it makes the shine more vibrant, just a visual affect, wouldn't you want to show something to it's full potential if you were trying to sell it?

as shown in XB photo, the edge of the scale you can see a frame, this is solid and usually wont fade off.

if you take note on the HB you see there is shine but no frame and it will fade

i feel its a bit of a con as most people dont want to keep the aro in a all white tank with white bottom

most of the time we buy aros from pictures

if the seller takes pictures of the aro in a non white tank how do we know the seller hasnt just put the aro in the normal tank to take the picture then put it back in the white tank to keep the shine level high

i would be intrested to see if someone put a silver aro in a white tank with white bottom would the silver turn snow

their is another thread here of a short body jar kept in a white tank and that also look like a snow jar
