I have a 70gl show tank and I was thinking about getting a dat. Can I house a full grown Dat in this size tank. My tank is 3ft long. Around how much do the average juvenile Dat run at Lfs?

They are very expensive,

ANd 70G will not be enough, as these guys can get over 20"

K. Let me just ask this, what kind of fish do you guys recommend for this tank. I'm looking for something with nice colors, swims med to a lot, freshwater, and something that not everyone has (Example: like an Oscar). I want something that looks cool in a home and is for the most part aggressive :) Anyone??? I dont mind paying $ for a nice fish, so the price matters after a limit.

how about red snooks? The head and mouth shape is slightly similar to dats. They can be feed color enhancing foods to bring out nice reds and they eat just about anything. They do swim around if in groups of 3 or more and get about a foot.(maybe just 2 in your tank) They also fend for themselves pretty well but cant eally damage other fish.

We are not a bunch of salesman. You should figure out what you want. You are ask the wrong question. If you want a Dat, get a bigger tank. And not asking us what do we recommend. I recommend tiger scats for your crappy dimension tank, but you can't afford them. Otherwise, go get some discus and anglefish, but then you are going to whine about they're not cool enough for you and the tread continues.......

lol
well said mate
