Hey MFK, I need your guy's help. Recently my dad went back to Thailand for a business trip and I asked him to find me tigers while he was there. He found a fisherman that catches them all the time but always lets them go. So we were thinking of buying a few to throw into his man-made pond approximately 110x50'x15' when completely filled.

The only problem we have is there is no filtration for this pond, so water movement is very little... The pictures attached are just my brother and my dad's workers catching some of it inhabitants... You can see the size of this pond as well.

I would like advice from fellow MFKers on what I should do to make it a happy and romantic environment for future dats. :D

thanks,
messytank - dave

Holy POND!!!! Seriously though, only in Asia.

ah...home sweet home.

one thing whats the point of having them if you can't see them...lol also dats need some good water and by the color of your water it doesn't look perfect...lol just throwing the ball around.

mass bree gigas :)

Tell him to bring a few arowanas back.....

You are very lucky to have space for an arowana to actually grow out.... take advantage of it!!

what kind of tigers did the fisherman catch? i thought widebars are extinct in thailand?

The point of having them is to try and hopefully breed them... we have the pond, its safe from poachers and fishers, also if successful I am hoping to get the department of fisheries involved and help repopulate the wild.

As for the water quality and color of the water... I have no comment haha you can see that we did net out knifes, cats, snakeheads, a carp and a pleco. That pond was used to breed cats for the market but since I got my dad into fishes, he has been enjoying his personal 150g here in San Diego and therefore wants to do something else productive with his pond.

To be exact, I'm not sure but I think its a thinbar. I am also trying to get my dad to talk with some of the lfs and try to get our hands on a few widebars. that's why I posted a thread for advice.

Hah! I don't think that would be legal ;) Breeding asian aros would be nice but I think it would be better to help conserve Thailand.

Tigers might not do well in the pond... they like clean, well-oxygenated water.

The fish you listed as being in the pond already are more suited to its environment.
