Width of tank for Bass - Not Tems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Id say you have about "year". They slow but still hit around 18-20" by the second year. With Orinos and Kels closer to 16. The bigger/medium basses usually hit closer to 14" in the first year from what Ive seen. But every inch past 12" they get signiiiificantly taller and wider as well which hogs up a ton of space.

I try to balance my suggested tank size replies between what Id love to see vs whats possible for most people. I highly recommend if you can going for 36" because bass act very differently when theyre just existing and when they have room to swim. As stated as big as possible is always best. I thinned my stock down to 4 bass but still give them 45sq ft of swimming space

Helpful info! They are in a 8’x4’x31” now, just thinking of an alternative if certain ones pick on the arow or I want to take out a pair that may cause trouble...

My 1-2 year goal I’d say is to move them to a 10’ tank of sorts and leave the arow in the 8’er and have bass only tank...

Sounds good, though it isnt a replacement, having 10ft of length would take a small amount of pressure off the necessary width. Id still suggest giving them a wide birth of room but at least they have area to stretch out and run for a sec if they want to. Personally I dont think theyll pick on your arro though. On a scale from goldfish to bullshark in aggression I actually consider cichla very placid. They wont even eat another fish unless they wouldnt have to work to get it down. They have the tools to be a top tier predator but they're so dang lazy. They're like the Slacking from Pokemon haha

Ahh, the 10’ er that goes on the other wall can be 3’ wide... It just seems it costs a lot ?... the wall where the 150g is now anything deeper than 30” is gonna protrude into the door...Is where I can fit the 2-280g’s suppose I could move the slider...
