wierd behavior

hey guys!... i just recently went snorkeling and wading around reefs here in phils. ... i caught some stuff... namely damsels, a sea cucumber, and some crabs and shrimps... a few of the damsels survived to make the rough 300km trip home.. (took 9 hrs)... i put them in my tank with a blacktip grouper around 5-6"... they were dying so i was just gonna let him eat them... but to my surprise, he didn't notice any of them, he occasionally "inspects" them but never eats... anyone here can explain this?... thanks

damsels aren't even an inch long....
he's on shrimp with the occasional feeder fish(acclimated mollies)

forget it... he just ate it yesterday....... the damsel was missing and i saw a big lump in the groupers stomach

I don't condone any collecting from wild reefs. Please take care of those animals the best you can.

sometimes it happens. a friend of mine had a green moray eel in a tank with an engineer and a betta grouper for like a year and one day the moray eel decided the engineer looked good enough to eat unfortunately. it happens, I was worried and am still worried my dogface will try to harm my clown or damsel

yeah.. we try our best to keep them alive... we have air pumps for them while in holding, but we cant use the pump in the car, im trying to find a batt. powered pump to lessen deaths...
