dont put all the females in a bucket. wait till you see one thats substantially plumper than the other females then separate her. once she has the fry remove her because shell end up eating as many as possible

best bet is to have alot of hiding spots like rocks/weeds/plants and dont starve your adults. good luck.

I have bred my guppies and this is what I found.

When their belly starts to look a little more square, they are close. Also, once the fry are born, I put them either in a small breeder or net breeder. I didn't do this at first, just put them in a 10 gallon tank to grow out, but have more success when I keep them in their own tank for 3 days in a breeder. It is probably because they are weak at first and it is easier that way for them to get their food. Once I notice they are swimming to the top for their food without any trouble and buzzing around, I move them to a grow out tank. This has decreased the death rate of my fry substantially.

My guppies tend to have 1 to 4 fry at a time. I keep a very good eye out and have all the plants they need, but they usually only pop out a few at a time. I have had one that popped out over a dozen on one day, but only that one time.

I have a 15 gal tank with about 18 females and 3 males. There always seems to be 1-2 of the females having anywhere from 8-15 fry and it seemed to be enough for my Senegal and my Clown knife about a month ago when they were just 4-5" but now they just are not enough. The fry just grow way too slow. I think I am going to take everyones advise and try breeding cichlids. My only suggestion that doesn't involve moving the females is to buy more females and have lots of floating plants. The adults will eat a few but most of the fry will be able to survive in the floating plants.

I like breeding fancy guppies and after two weeks I have only had 1 babies. My sister has 2. Also some of the babies will get sucked up the filter and get killed. That is why I suggest getting a breeder tank instead of java moss because even if they are safe from the big guppies they are still not safe from the filter.
