Hey my Jag crossed with my female Con again but I can't seem to locate the fry since they hatched. The con is visible under the log in the nest where the eggs hatched, but the fry seemed to have vanished. I'm not sure if she is hiding them when I look or if there is a chance they failed after hatching. Both parents seem to be following the same behavior as if they were protecting them, the mother is even still fanning the area. The eggs hatched Saturday. Any ideas?

I have had this happen a bunch with convicts. The fry hide somewhere i cant figure out for a few days then they appear free swimming in a cloud. Just wait to see.

If they are behaving as if they still have babies trust me they are still there lol. If they can hide them from us that means the other fish cant find them either, if the babies were gone the parents would start swimming all over the tank.

I would like some of those fry if your selling them.

Ernie, just got your message, if they are alive no problem I'll be in touch. Ill keep my eye on them too, thanks guys, I might be a little impatient because I am going to make a bunch of tank re-locations if they were successful. Jag and Con are headed to the 220, the two inch Trimac and 1 inch Red Terror are leaving the 30 to go to the 55, and the fry will be headed to the 30. Chinese fire drill.

I also wanted to ask what you guys thought about how long I should let the parents live with the fry before I make the switch. I was thinking about 3 weeks or so, enough that they get somewhat independent and not enough that they get eaten by their folks. Good idea?
