You guys are literally crazy if you think that any well-known newspaper would not have published this information if it was left at their doorstep (in fact, Wikileaks gives it to them and they do publish it). People who don't follow politics probably wouldn't even know this is happening if that were the case. It's easy to vindicate someone who has an internet presence - that doesn't make it right.
For the record again, I disagree with Assange's direction and his apparent hatred of the US. I think the critical locations document should not have been released, and I think his comments about Obama resigning etc. are proving that he is very unbiased - a serious journalistic flaw.
Letting the people know about the atrocities of the US wars in the Middle East was a good thing. Hearing soldiers laugh when kids are shot, tanks are running over dead bodies and journalists being killed on the field is disgraceful to the cause and the necessary humiliation and accountability that stemmed from those videos was justified.
The diplomatic cables are amusing but the countries that matter have already said it won't affect relations. Others are pretending it will just to feed the drama - diplomatic gossip is very common and very little was actually spoiled from those documents.
I support Wikileaks and hope that Julian's absence dissipates the US infowar currently being waged. I also hope the 4chan and Anonymous people stop attacking Paypal, banks, Mastercard, etc. as their DDOS attacks are accomplishing nothing. They are a nuisance that only discredits Wikileaks further.
