Does Assange actually think this is going to protect him? He's in jail right now and won't be seeing daylight for some time to come. His home country is threatening to revoke his passport. So where's the big kaboom?

The US is considering pursuing extradition. If he ends up on US soil, he is totally screwed.

hehe at about the same time (8:30) you posted that the foreign minister (former PM kevin rudd) said on national television that Australia is doing all they can so Assange receives what any other Aussie would receive. what a crock lol, I don't think Australia wants anything to do with him.

cool thread, i was about to make a thread regards to wikki. for some might think hes a bad person for releasing these info's but i think hes somewhat a hero. its about time americans wake up and realized whats really going on and not be lied and fed with BS. i been keeping up with wikki for a few years now. as of now, hes a wanted man. The U.S do want him but will not get him. its going to get ugly if they do anything to him. his last statement was if they do anything to him he will release the ultimate leak. all the leaks you here on the media are just the chosen ones the public wants you to see and hear. if you have been keeping up with wikki you know how dirty the U.S is with there dirty tricks.

this man is smart and has plans. hes playing a tight chest game here.

So you feel right about one Man possibly holding world's peace as hostage? As his right to play whith?

Isn't that the ultimate BS and madness?

You do understand this "tight chess game" he is playing is with real people's lives. and I'm not talking about the Washington crowd either. How would you feel if your family member or friend were the "chess piece" he was playing with next? As for the US being dirty, yeah I'm sure my country has it's faults but given the choice I'd still pick it hands down, if you have such a problem with it go live somewhere else.
I will agree having lived in Australia they won't just hand him over to the US, and if Washington pushes it will get messy.
As for Wikkileaks anyone that has leaked information to him regarding National Security and or that endangers people's lives should be tried for treason and due to his threat of this "info bomb" of his he should be treated as a terrorist.

You guys are literally crazy if you think that any well-known newspaper would not have published this information if it was left at their doorstep (in fact, Wikileaks gives it to them and they do publish it). People who don't follow politics probably wouldn't even know this is happening if that were the case. It's easy to vindicate someone who has an internet presence - that doesn't make it right.

For the record again, I disagree with Assange's direction and his apparent hatred of the US. I think the critical locations document should not have been released, and I think his comments about Obama resigning etc. are proving that he is very unbiased - a serious journalistic flaw.

Letting the people know about the atrocities of the US wars in the Middle East was a good thing. Hearing soldiers laugh when kids are shot, tanks are running over dead bodies and journalists being killed on the field is disgraceful to the cause and the necessary humiliation and accountability that stemmed from those videos was justified.

The diplomatic cables are amusing but the countries that matter have already said it won't affect relations. Others are pretending it will just to feed the drama - diplomatic gossip is very common and very little was actually spoiled from those documents.

I support Wikileaks and hope that Julian's absence dissipates the US infowar currently being waged. I also hope the 4chan and Anonymous people stop attacking Paypal, banks, Mastercard, etc. as their DDOS attacks are accomplishing nothing. They are a nuisance that only discredits Wikileaks further.

You sure write a good enough prose, to arrive exactly where most of us were already...

hopefully, though, wikileaks will turn to naught with that criminal in jail...

I have trouble articulating myself in less than 5,000 words. :grinno:

I actually hate news of all kind. Plus you never know whats truth or lies. It's pretty stupid to blindly believe everything you see or hear, especially on a site called Wikileaks.

The difference here is that Wikileaks is publishing the direct content. How is that "news" that can be disbelieved?

While those items can be proven true the lack of the other contextual data shines them in a biased light. Think Michael Moore with how he cuts info out of interviews to slant them his way.

Having worked in the defense industry the last 6 years I see quite a bit of this lack of all encompassing picture that greatly sways people's opinions one way or another.

Wikileaks revealed documents today that Libya threatened the UK in order to make them release the Lockerbie bomber. Documents like that do not threaten lives, but they expose corruption.

Releasing private info of U.S. spies to people that will kill them is not exposing corruption. It's pretty much turning these citizens into hostages.

It's a shame that wikileaks cannot function as just a simple cold hard news source, but they also want to threaten private people.
