Wild A. Labiatus update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My custom lighting finally just came and its starting to really show the Fish off. I'm going to try to take some time this weekend and give the tank good scrubbing and set up some good photos.

I love the red on yellow contrast. Most beautiful WC Devil ever because of that.

Gorgeous fish. Nice lips on that rd. Sick lighting too, must have cost a bit but definitely worth it.

The lighting was not cheap but it has a three-year warranty made in America and their customer service was the best I've seen in a while .

I know red Devils typically do not do very well with plants but I've heard there are some varieties of swords that they won't bother I'm going to give it a whirl because the lights are more than powerful enough to grow some hard to grow plants

Fabulous fish, those could send me into an Amphilophus obsession.
Don't mean the plant stuff below to derail but....
For cichlids that normally destroy plants (even tough one like anubius and java fern) I have been having luck with papyrus, they need to emerge from the tank, but to me the stems, roots, and new sprouts look interesting. It is practically indestructible.

they provide great cover for females

I have some in pots, some bare root.

@ the OP - great looking Lab. The range of yellows -orange -red is really impressive. Big lips too!

@ duanes - that papyrus looks really good - especially w/ the Polleni.

Sex is unsure, anyone's guess? So far it's eating so well I'm shocked. I thought it would be slow but it's been housing PEMysis cubes , krill, and without fail nls pellets. I added a few juvie amph to ease the transition into a new setting as well.

And photos..
I'm trying to keep a weekly log so I can well document any changes both visually and in note form.
