Look really just in the bag.

I just released them into the aquarium- they are already picking on each other.
Feisty little guys .;)

Video from this morning. Sorry such low quality- still keeping the light low. They ate flake food this morning from on top of water with gusto! I will be getting them some live brine shrimp later as well. The aquarium store also has live blood worms- but, I dont know- that makes me a bit nervous to feed them this. What do you think?

I did some reading and it says that the staple should be a good quality flake, they are getting NLS Flake. I also have freeze dried brine shrimp which I haven't fed them yet. Also, I read, lettuce is good as well? Ill try that as well. I have some organic Romaine, so Ill try that in a few days.

They are very curious, these guys, fascinating behaviors.

it's a great sign that they're eating especially flakes. like any other fish variety food is best. i dont think they'll eat lettuce. u can try it but very unlikely they will eat it. and i think u meant live blackworms. bloodworms and blackworms are different. lots of people are against live blackworms cuz they swear it gets their fish sick. i personally been feeding live blackworms for 10+ years and never had a problem. but the decision is yours. i feed my altums live blackworms, frozen bloodworms and NLS pellets.

I did mean live blackworms- sorry about the confusion. I was skeptical about the lettuce myself- lol! I know my discus would certainly look at me like I was crazy if I tried to feed them this. I didn't think of trying to feed pellets. I do have a mixture of NLS Algaemax, Cichlid pellet, and Thera-A that I feed my wild geophagus, Biotodoma cupidos, and wavarini, and Bolivian cichlids- could I feed this. I have it is a container that Ive mixed these three together, but if I should just feed cichlid pellet, I can reorder it alone.

Ive never fed live food. Is there any specific procedure you use when feed the live black-worms? I will be purchasing from a local aquarium store.
Thank you for the insights.

i prefer pellets over flakes because pellets are cleaner than feeding flakes. flakes goes all over the place. you have gravel and foods can get stuck in the gravel and making your water dirty fast. or feed just enough to make sure they eat everything. left over food will foul your water fast. this is why, in my opinion. frozen and live is my fav because its so much cleaner.

as for live blackworms, just make sure they look healthy when you buy them. the darker their color the healthier they are. i keep my blackworms outside away from light they hate light and heat. and change the water 1-2 a day depending how the water looks. it can be a hassle keeping live blackworms. make sure u only feed the live healthy worms!
