Wild blue crayfish caught, how rare?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you're looking to sell blues that would be best.

Where would I get a male? Also, if I cross a P.alleni with my female how many of her offspring will take her color? I really like her blue a lot better than the lighter blue of the selectivley bred ones. Her blue is much more bold and is a very nice dark blue color.

She might berry soon, or not. two of mine mated and i haven't seen berry's yet, but it takes awhile so give it time.

You can buy blue ones from Liveaquaria, but their blue's tend to be light.

I don't really have any blue ones at the moment. My crays change color every molt due to the Red/blue cross, so if you were to breed them there would be a chance of the babies not being blue, and the red gene might pop up now and then.

go to your lfs and see if they have them on the order list. most places do, at least around where i live

Also, why is mine so dark in color? If you were to see her in person it looks outstanding. It's a dark blue, but It almost glows when she's under black gravel. Is it because mine is a wild type with a blue mutation?
Sorry for all the questions, but you guys are a lot of help.

Could already be the offspring of a blue/red cross, alot of mine were deep dark blue at one point.

Someone may have released some blues into the stream, and they reproduced with the locals and made this lady and some siblings.

Or it could just be a dark blue crayfish.
