Well i`ve just gotten home from work, and the fungus has escalated since i left for work.

I`ve removed him from the tank and put him in a 25 liter tank, but i think he`s done :(
i added a good dose of esha 2000 and 3ml hydrogen peroxide.
I`m having a hard time finding a formula for much hydrogen peroxide pr gallon/liter of water i should use. Anyone got any info ?

As of now I`m not seeing any signs of fungus affecting the other 4 bleheri`s, or the endlers that i cycled the tank with.
I`ll post an update tomorrow

Edit: Found bag of indian almond leaves, added some to the main tank and the 25 liter tank. They supposedly have anti fungal properties and should lower PH slightly.

Almond leaves will help in prevention but your well past that, Pimafix and melafix are both natural plant extracts i doubt they are illegal.

as for Peroxide i've never heard of using it for this doubt it'll work,

good luck

Off topic: Well, it goes like a rant ... Unfortunately, in Brazil Melafix and Pimafix medications were prohibited by the national health surveillance ... Only God knows why!

On topic: If there is no problem in your country, I recommend these remedies. I kept a bleheri in my tank for a few months (had to give it away because my tank was too hot for it) and when it had a bacterial infection, the Melafix was great. Furthermore, I have used pimafix treatment in other fish and will not repent.
Luck with the little one.

Well he`s dead this morning :(
And to my dismay, i found a few endlers with fungus on them(removed from the tank)... and i think 1 other bleheri`s has some tiny spots aswell :(
I`ve put in an order for some melafix/pimafix but thats still 3-4 days away. API products are not available here, and regards to pima/melafix being natural... see below.

The ingredients of esha 2000 is:
6.3 mg ethacridine lactate (Rivanol)
1 mg proflavin
3.2 mg copper 2+
0.26 mg methyl orange

Wich according to the product, is effective against fungus.

Regarding the banned meds here in my country:
All was well and good until a couple of years ago, when our department of health and safety "suddenly" found out, that all the fish meds have never been tested/licenced by the goverment.
There is a law wich states you cannot claim your product to cure/threat anything unless its been tested/licenced by the health and safty department.
So almond leaves can be sold as decor, but if the seller hints at medicinal properties of the leaf, thay can be hit with huge fines.

I feel for the fish and good luck in the treatment of the others.
Abaut the banned: Yes, here was the same thing. Medications for fish were sold as "food" or "test parameter" until our ANVISA (National Agency of Sanitary Surveillance) "discovered" that were remedies. Hence even promote some test is another story ... The government will not make... The importers will not too.

hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent, your tank being about 40 gallons or less, you could use 200 ml with no problem, it will stave off most bacterial and fungal infections. It dissipates in the water shortly after.

I learned this from a gold fish importer, as kois and goldfish get antibiotic resistance external diseases, he would pour high concentration of peroxide, with salt, until the fish start to gasp for air, then do a 50% water change until they breath normal. what it does, it burns off all external pathogens in a quick burst. then use copper, and contrary to what people say, almost all fish are ok with copper, except for invertebrates. copper takes longer to work, you will not see it do anything until a week later, but it will kill off most parasites that could cause skin lesions.

I tried this combination with some tiger fish, hydrocynus sp. that had this tail rot, with cotton like infection. it spread very fast, killing one, and infecting another the day later. and after losing the 2nd one, I knew it wasn't from fighting, so before leaving for work, I poured the peroxide in there, and large amount of salt. when I got home in the evening, all signs of infection was gone. and they are still living well today

Cheers for explanation fugupuff, i now know that i will be a bit more aggressive in my efforts another time.
I`d rather kill the fish my self in a failed attempt at curing it, then have this happening again. But to be honest, i think he was doomed by that nasty wound and me not noticing the situation fast enough. (I`ve only dealt with ich, finrot and internal parasites in my tanks before)

The other fish wich i suspect had fungus aswell was put in isolation this morning (with a higher dose of esha 2000), and this evening the spots seems smaller and less protuding. Gonna wait until tomorrow and see if my assumption are right, or i will try the hydrogen peroxide like you described.

To end on a high note, 2 out of the 3 remaining in the the main tank have started eating sinking pellets :) just need to hook the last onto them aswell.

Thanks for all the help, i will update this thread when there is any news.

Second one is gone aswell :(
I started the peroxide threatment the morning after the above post( was looking worse), but i think i overdosed the peroxide threatment, or he was in it to long. Very busy with work atm, and could not monitor the tank.
Feel i bit guilty to be honest.

The 3 remaining are doing well, all of them now accepts sinking pellets and putting on some girth. One is still very shy, the other two are at front glass begging for food all the time.

Couple of pics from today.

Too bad about the other two. Looks like you have a nice habitat for the remaining ones. Good luck with them.
