If you look in the stingray section one member wrote a thread about the K.I.S.S (keep it simple stupid) method about keeping rays. I think this is true for rays, true for discus, and true for the entire hobby. If they work they work, if they don't they dont, don't worry about it too much.

Until you have to try it to find out it doesn't work and go through several hundred dollars worth of discus figuring it out.

Several hundred dollars worth of discus before figuring it out? you would have to be an idiot not to "figure it out" after a discus or two disappear overnight.. which may be 100+- dollars. And if you cant afford 100 dollars in an unforeseen event, you probably shouldnt be keeping stingrays, or discus. Maybe stick with cichlids, or goldfish:ROFL:

Yeah it won't take long to figure out. My Rays won't bother them that I know but I am a little worried that they could end up scaring the Discus enough to not eat? I also heard that wild caught Discus are much hardier than the more colorful captive bred versions. The wild ones co exist with Rays in the wild that are much much bigger than mine will ever be (and I know its a much bigger environment).

Wild caught discus are more sensitive to water conditions than captive bred ones. Wild discus tend to live in the backwaters, and primarily in flooded forests in the wet season, with a PH sometimes a low as 5. Groups of discus tend to stay away from other fish in the wild, and do their own thing. I know if you're dead set on keeping discus and rays together, nothing I or anybody else can say will change your mind. I will say these fish are not compatible, and it's a risk to the health of your discus. It may or may not work out. You may end up with stressed out and unhappy discus. It is your money however, so good luck.

I have right now 4 discus that are around two to 4 inches in with my five stingrays that are from a 4 inch disc to one that is about 12 inch disc. I never even thought my stingrays would mess with my discus. my stingrays are wild caught and discus are just captive breed ones.
