Noted . Any ideas on how they would react to coexisting with a fish from amazon? (silver aro)

depends.. they could get along great or not get on at all. gar are known to be nippy depending on tank mate(s) so keep a close eye on that. arowana are skittish aswell it could get scared just from a gar being with it so you'll just have to see who can get along with who.

True, had a similar sized pbass introduced awhile back and the aro was very skittish and flailed about the tank then calmed down and became nornal with the bass a week later. Seems to be the usual.
