Wow I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that they believed some would gather in huge groups but never thought of that as being true. Pretty interesting to hear that it is.

I'm suprised this has been disputed. Every time I have seen pleco's in the wild here there's more than one and most of the time there's like 20. They seem to scavenge together or something ( as you can see like 20 just cursing together in a school), but I know the nest in pairs only.

In blue springs, fl they spear boats full. Google that they have some cool pictures of the schools
 
What you mean people go spear fishing for plecos. Caught five brush nose plecos and a not sure I think it's called a emerald it has white/ bash lines on it doesn't look like sail fin ? But any who most were 1 ft 2 were sm 4 inch
