I've finally found someone in Scotland who can get me a motoro, he said he gets them at 15cm disc for £100 (not sure what that'll be in $), only thing worrying me is that he says they're wild caught. Is a wc motoro a bad choice for a first time ray keeper?

For a first time ray keeper, wild caught is a bad idea. I've been keeping rays for over 4yrs and I will not touch anything wild caught. Definitely go for something captive bred

Deffo bad idea
Wild rays can be a pain to get eating when captive bread the breeder will already have done the hard work for you

Guess I'll have to keep looking then, shame because I've never found anyone else who can get me one in Scotland.

I say get it, I have no experience with rays but if it's all you can find like me just grab it! Make sure the seller is reputable and sells healthy WC. I might get grilled for this but I think people exaggerate in regards to wild caught being that much more difficult. All rays from what I have read are a very adaptable animal. I'm in the same boat as you, and IMO if you don't have experience with fish and the hobby you shouldn't be going over to rays anyway, any Ray for that matter.

I have a lot of experience in the hobby, just never had any experience with rays. The problem is that I don't really have choice other than this one, stingrays aren't popular here so they're difficult to find.

Will give it a shot, it's an inexpensive ray so I'm willing to take the risk. I've read that it's best to treat for parasites straight away, is there a medication you would recommend?
