I don't know for sure but I think that jeff rapp's is telling us there are two specie of ''O'' under the same familly???... just relized it now..

i 'think' and it is a bit of an educated guess. that the two oscars you refer to are the oscelattus which means eye spot and the other fish whos name eludes me dont disply the eye spot.

I'm glad everyone likes him . I have had quite a few Oscars over the years and never had one colored like him .
Depending on the mood the colors will go from the gold /yellow to orange/red . But never like the reds of a line bred Oscar .
He is like all Oscars I have seen about food though . He will plow through anything in his way to get to food .
