I just thought i would post a pic of my texas cichlids caught in city park New Orleans. They are obviously an invasive species here and those who catch them are asked to not throw them back. Fortunatly i have a 225g to put some in.

cool.wondering why people in the southern states that have these invasive species dont quarentine them.and ship them out?im just wondering if anyone has checked into what yould have to do?im sure you cant transport them .weve got our own invasives up here.mostly plants and zebra mussels.just curious

Always wondered why this doesn't happen either. IMO someone could be making a fortune off of these fish with just a little time and effort. Its like someone having a money tree growing, but they are too lazy to go and pick the money off.

well, i'll tell you what, anyone that wants to put an order in i'll see what i can do. I can probably catch a few a day i just don't know the logistics of shipping fish safely. I love catching them but i can only put so many in my aquarium.

First of all they look 8-10" so the shipping box would have to be GI-NORMOUS (you need 1/3 water and 2/3 air). So even if they were free the shipping may be up to $100.

yes they are about 8" and 10". I have two pair that were caught off a spawning bed. this is the first time i have fished for them but before the big freeze kill off a couple years ago, i heard you could catch them non stop. These are some of the prettiest i've seen. Lots of blue. Coryjacob, I guess you are talking about the pond at the west end loop by the boat houses?

this is crazy cause i live in texas and have to drive 2-3 hours just to catch these guys but people out side of texas can go fishing in a city pond i should just move to florida where u can catch what ever u want to keep
