no, I know the definition of wild, I was merely stating that just because they are caught somewhere where they didnt originate from (according to our 100+ yr old explorations & definitions) doesnt make them not wild. Sorry you didnt get that.
as far as feral vs. wild...
feral |ˈfi(ərəl; ˈferəl|
adjective
(esp. of an animal) in a wild state, esp. after escape from captivity or domestication : a feral cat.
• resembling a wild animal : a feral snarl.
ORIGIN early 17th cent.: from Latin fera ‘wild animal’ (from ferus ‘wild’ ) + -al .
feral is wild, at its very base, so I dont know if that would be the correct term, but as long as people use it in the way you say you guys did in Hawaii, Id assume that would work just fine. Id understand it anyways...
I think one good thing that could be added to MFK would be a "terminology" sticky, explaining things like were talking about. There are a lot of "local" terms, names & locales that cover more than one species, locale or definition...at the very least, it could clear some things up and give some MFK "definitions" to the terms, names & locales, maybe listing something like "also known as".
