Wild Festae spawned again VIDs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gorgeous...just Gorgeous! I'm glad to see that they've remained civil throughout all of these spawns. definitely get those fry into the hobby. Shipping is very easy. Once you do it a few times, it becomes a piece of cake. BTW do you still have those wild Oscars? What ever happened to their fry?

They are pretty much like clock work. He chases her around the tank nipping her but and making her splash water but never anything bad like splitting fins or messing scales up. In this time they sometimes play through the hole in the bottom of the flower pots nipping at each other. He will dance for her too and move gravel and she is semi receptive of it until he chases. During this time she is growing her eggs. Then she gets more receptive of him and he chases less and then eggs. Then he mulls around the outside of the pot with her in it and they stand off...and lock lips. Thats what these pics are of. Then eggs hatch and there is some more locking and her being more aggressive to him. Then the big mean human comes in the middle of the night and jacks the fry out the pot...then he starts to chase her again lol.

I still have not perfected the rearing of the fry so I have not had many to sell...and the ones i do have the local people buy em up fast. I am getting better and I think I will be ready this time.

They are F1 oscars and I still have all 5 of them. The two that have definitely paired and spawned a few times...theres something not right. Either they are still not old enough or someone is infertile. Every spawn the eggs are white right as they are laid and stay that way...then they get ate. There was one time that I did see and vid a few wigglers but only that one time. The last time I caught them in the act and know who the M and F is. As the F was laying they were white (not tan) so I am now wondering if she is kinda infertile or not yet old enough. They are close to 2 years old tho. So I am not giving up on them...and I think there is a chance that 2 of the other 3 are kinda paired up but havent spawned since theres another oscar in the tank and a crazy big old catfish and a mean giant pleco. Only down fall to those 2 is one of them is slightly deformed...dont know if that would pass on to fry tho.

F1, my bad. I couldn't remember. Well when the Oscars do finally spawn I'm interested in fry. Sorry for the slight derail too. It's funny how you can sell so many Festae locally. It would be very hard for me to sell Festae or any uncommon cichlid in my area. Most people here wouldn't know what in the world I was trying to sell. The majority of fish that I sell or trade are via shipping. I guess it's another case of varying markets. I hope you can perfect the rearing of fry. With a prolific pair of Festae, you will be shipping out a lot. I wish you the best and look forward to another update.

Yeah I think I could sell them all here all the time...at least right now. Now maybe that would be different after a while of me doing that lol.
