They are a snapper species. We have many snapper species here in the states and they do fight very hard, but fifty meters in ten seconds? What are you running? Two pound test? lol

We mainly catch American Red Snapper, Mangrove Snapper and lane snapper here on the northern Gulf Coast.

My largest has been 35" and here is one about 31" and twenty pounds.

Lutjanus argentimaculatus iis found in the indo pacific region from Australia in the south to Japan in the north. and as far as the east coast of Africa, But are more commonly found in northern Australia. And to JD.62 I am running 20lb with a 30-50lb leadere most of the time. 10 seconds is more than enough time for the fish to swim 50 metres. Count it out. And I know thhis because me, as well as a number of my friends have seen it many many time. There are things in the rivers here that have been destroying 50 lb leaders and bending 4/0 hooks.
