if you get them eatting dried krill pieces on the surface before try pellets it may be easier to get them on pellets
 
yeh it really shows how far you come with your cichla, especially if the before and after shots are like 6 months in between..

Haha that pic doesnt show the "little" bulge, thats the big bulge I let them get on live food day.

The freeze dried krill seems to be the common recommended tactic, and thats what im going to try. They will take food from the surface, I just think the pellets at this point are too unfamiliar to them. They like krill so I will def. do the freeze dried floaters awhile and see how the do.

Ive also been kicking around the idea of feeding them fresh cut salmon pieces with the skin on. Apparently that is a major color contributing factor in the Omega One cichlid pellet...why not give it to them fresh rather than in a pellet? :naughty:
