There's ur red flag.

All oscars in the hobby used to have this B&W pattern, until the reds and red tigers and albinos were produced.

Initially, the 'new' variants costed big bucks, well, not that big, but way more than you'd expect to pay for an oscar.

As supply reached equilibrium with demand, the price dropped on the new ones, and only the new ones were selling, which is why 'common' oscars (which is what you have) are not so common anymore.

im from qld aswell & have bought os many times. & i know in all brisbane lfs stores 8 dollars a fish is average.all os iv`e seen here look just like that,no not wild just normal patterning.

I hope you have a 125g tank for them?? Also a $1 for true wild Oscars I don't think so. Could be but very doughtfully.. Good luck with them FYI I have those same ones a our LFS and they are called common Oscar color will change

we get those at the lfs i work at and they look like wild coloration but they are captive bred...pretty much just black/grey/silverish...but ya most likely captive bred possible wild caught parents that are now captive.

man u guys are gettin o's for under a dollar! man that is sick. where do you guys live. try living in montgomerey county. they charge o's for like 5.00$- 8.75$ for like 1.5 inches.

its worse where i am,for "large"(generally less than 2 inches) they quite often want more than ten bucks. AZ is terrible.

this is what my little o turned into.he looked just like yours when i first got him
