I'm currently in Mexico on vacation in Playa De Carmen area outside of Cancun, Mexico. My hotel (fairmount) in Mayacoba riveria has tons of small canals. Any experts know if there is some plecos or any plecos near the area? Always looking for wolf plecos. HUGE pleco geek here. Thanks

duanes duanes posted an article not too long ago about plecos invading and destroying an habitat somewhere in C.A. but I can't remember where.

I never saw any plecos in that area of the Yucatan, but very close to Playa del Carmen are the cenotes Jardin-de-Eden, Azul, and Cristalino ( just across the highway from the BelAire resort), which are very easy, and accessible places to snorkel with cichlids, catfish, and live bearers
The weekends can get a little crowded with local swimmers and day trippers, but Mon thru Thurs you end up with the area almost all to yourself.
There is also a cenote on the grounds of the Bel-Aire resort where if you are lucky, you can snorkel with manatees.
