I was at my lfs and I saw these wild oscars. They were the same price and normal captive bred ones but they looked alot different. It was sort of a charcole black color where the black is on normal tiger oscars and a dark grey color where the red normally is. They were really good so hopefully when I get my 250G some will still be in for me to get. The shop does not stock dyed fish so how do you think they were different color's? Also I just saw a XXL black piranha advertised and was wondering what they mix with?

black piranhas should not be mixed with anything you don't consider to be disposable.

captive-bred oscars have been selectively bred to produce more attractive coloration, its quite natural that the wild caught ones would be less colorful.

Okey thanks for that now I won't make the mistake of getting one :-). The oscars I saw looked much nicer than the captive bred ones and would look really good when fully grown. Will oscars be able to mix with a arowana, stingray, simease tiger fish, birchir, fire eel, snake head and a leiarius marmoratas catfish? Also my lfs just got some needle mouthed gar's in and I was wondering if I could get one of them?

the catfish will outgrow and eat most the stuff on there except the ray and maybe arrowana, if they are all purchased at small sizes

The black pacu is the giant one. I had a couple of black a long time ago and they grow exceptionally fast and break everything when they hit like 8'' in length. Its like have a skittish tetra that grows 3-4 ft.

IDK it kinda sounds to me like the "wild" oscars are just commons. Although I have never seen a wild one so i cant judge.
