Convicts are one of my favorite cichlids to keep. To me, they have all of the personality and behavior we all love in new worlds, but stay a relatively manageable size and don't need huge tanks to keep them in. Over the years, I have managed to acquire several different wild type convicts, each with their own particular personalities and different looks. I have to admit that I am not a very good photographer, but here are some pics of what I am currently keeping.

First, cryptoheros (or amatitlania) siquia from Rio Cabayo. These are relatively new to my fish room but are already one of my favorites. Lots of color on both the male and the female. I currently keep them in a divided 40 breeder.100_0087.JPG100_0084.JPG100_0082.JPG100_0088.JPG

Next is my pair of c. kanna Rio Robalo. These are from Panama. They have a taller body type than most of the others I have kept. The males have some nice yellows, and the females get some nice blues when they get bigger.

I also have a pair of c. siquia Rio Claro. The males get a lot of red in their tails. The females stay a bit drab, with more gold than orange in the belly. I keep my pair in a community grow out 75 gallon tank. There isn't any breeding due to all the tankmates.

I have a pair of siqua from Grenada, Nicaragua. I could only get a picture of the male, as the female was guarding their brood in the back corner of the tank. My pair has really nice trailers. Their coloration is the most "typical" of all my wild types.

Last for now are a few pics of some c. coatepeque. They are still really small, yet I pulled my first spawn this morning. These pics are of the male continuing to guard the babies in the net breeder as well of one of the pair's siblings.

I also have a pair from Lago Nicaragua, but they are always hiding in my 180 and impossible to get good pictures of.

Please feel free to post up any pics you may have. I also want to say thanks to Sam Santangelo, who collected the parents of several of my pairs.

I have one but hes your normal looking convict. Had him two years though and they do have good personalities. Your have a ton of color. Nice pics.
