So, for those of you that have followed my "Pike project from Sweden" thread I am now happy to announce I have orderd my pikes at last!

Decided on 4 Crenicichla Regani. They will go with Caquetaia Myersi´s, Heros Notatus and some Hyphessobrycon erythrostigma Tetras.

One thing that came to my mind today was that they might not be taking frozen food from start.

How should I prepare for this?

Should I get a small tank or even a bucket and breed Guppys in it?

Winter is coming to Sweden right now so I cant get food from the nature now,

How does reptilefood work with fish? Like Larvea and other bugs?

PS. I love this forum, not many "monster lovers" in Sweden.

Thanks for helping out!

Does your local store carry guppies as food?

I actually think they would readily take frozen food with no problems - start with brine shrimp and bloodworms.

If dry food is easier / cheaper for you - try that FIRST - and if they do not take it - then go with the frozen food. Good luck!

I never hard issues with my wild dwarf pikes taking frozen foods ... takes them a while to get into prepared foods though. I never had to feed live myself.

Sounds good! Thought it was hard to get WC to eat. Have plenty of frosen food ready!

What does prepared food mean?

Do you think Ill be able to Keep all 4 in the same tank?

Prepared foods are like pellets and flakes. Some people include freeze dried as well.

You should be fine, regani are the mellowest of the dwarf pikes though the tapajos race tend to be more assertive than the standard regani ... but that's a good amount of rocks and wood, plus the tank size is huge for them. Instead of pipes, if you need more cover, you can add leaves for a more natural look.

My only worry would be the myersi once they get some size on them. Likely to make quick work of the tetras and possibly the pikes later on.

Good point. An adult regani would probably be fine, but I've found they are slow growers.

Well. We'll just have to wait and see I guess... The Reganis should be around 4" atleast when I get them.

Actually the fish is arriving tomorrow at my lfs. Cant pick them up until saturday though.
